In an impressive achievement, a student from Good Samaritan College in Toowoomba has become the first student from the College to be accepted into university. Emily Murphy has overcome significant challenges and has shown immense resilience to pave her way towards higher education. Her journey is a testament to her commitment and courage.
Emily, a talented individual with a flair for beauty services, achieved a statement of attainment in Beauty Services, Certificate III from TAFE. Inspired by her passion for helping others, she has been accepted into UniSQ’s Indigenous Higher Education Pathways Program (IHEPP) and is preparing to embark on a journey towards a rewarding career. This pathway program has been developed to give Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people the academic skills needed for university study.
Emily's determination to live independently and secure her own rental accommodation showcases her perseverance and determination to create a better future for herself. With her resilient attitude and the unwavering support of Good Samaritan College, she has worked hard to achieve her goals.
Emily said, “I feel really happy that I can pursue my dreams and continue my education at university. Good Samaritan College has provided me with the support and resources to overcome challenges and reach this milestone. I am grateful for the opportunities they have given me, and I am excited to see what the future holds.”
