LOCAL AUTHOR, RORY H. MATHER TO VISIT OUR LADY OF LOURDES PRIMARY SCHOOL FOR BOOK WEEK CELEBRATIONS

The Toowoomba based picture book enthusiast and author,  Rory H. Mather will visit Our Lady of Lourdes Prep to Year 3 students on Wednesday, 25 August as a part of their Book Week celebrations.

Rory has the lead book with Scholastic this year for Book Week with Get Back in Your Books. This story is about a young boy who arrives at school one day and is greeted by an array of book characters from fairy tales, Harry Potter, Where’s Wally, pirates, pigs, the Cheshire Cat, Mary Poppins and many more characters as the class celebrates Book Week. The book celebrates reading, books, and creativity – perfect for Book Week.

Most of Rory’s picture books are funny and very creative. When he was a child, he had difficulty reading and therefore didn’t enjoy it. A few books changed his view and because of this he tries to write books that will engage young readers so they will grow up with a love of reading.

His current available titles also include Vlad’s Bad Breath (Larrikin House 2020), Easter Hatastrophe (Scholastic Australia 2021) and Vlad’s in Love (Larrikin House 2021). Rory has more publications due out in 2021 and 2022.

Other school celebrations for Book Week include a dress-up day and the Readers Cup.
